Sterling Engineering has acquired Absolute Machine Control Technologies, Inc. (AMCT), a Rockford, Illinois-based provider of controls engineering and system integration services, to strengthen its automation and machine controls expertise.
The acquisition enhances Sterling Engineering’s ability to deliver end-to-end automation solutions by expanding deeper into the machine controls segment. AMCT brings specialized capabilities in electrical and software design for industrial machine controls, PLC programming and debugging, maintenance and retrofits, and consulting-based engineering support.
Founded in 2008, AMCT has built a reputation for delivering practical, high-quality support across machine control systems. Its expertise spans HMI and PLC software, servo systems, electrical design, and full control system integration for automated equipment, including schematics, programming, panel building, and machine wiring.
Sterling Engineering, founded in 1969, provides engineering, project management, and technical workforce solutions across industries including automation, manufacturing, life sciences, utilities, food and beverage, technology, and renewable energy. The company has been led by CEO Dolores Connolly since 1997.
The addition of AMCT is expected to broaden Sterling Engineering’s capabilities across automation, controls, retrofit projects, and smart manufacturing initiatives, reinforcing its positioning as a single-source engineering partner for complex automation systems.
