Stonepeak, an alternative investment firm focused on infrastructure and real assets, announced an investment in Aura Holdings, a retirement village developer and operator based in Queensland, Australia.
Stonepeak’s investment, alongside a committed development facility with senior domestic lenders, provides up to A$1 billion of available capital to support Aura’s development pipeline and drive its next phase of growth.
Founded in 2016 by retirement sector executives Tim Russell and Mark Taylor and led by CEO Sean Graham, Aura develops retirement apartments and community facilities in infill locations across southeast Queensland. The company has completed six retirement villages totaling nearly 800 units, with six additional projects in its near-term pipeline and more than 10 in early development.
The transaction marks Stonepeak’s second platform investment in the retirement village sector across Australia and New Zealand, following its acquisition of Arvida Group Limited in November 2024. Additional terms of the Aura transaction were not disclosed, and the deal has closed.
Stonepeak manages approximately A$120 billion (US$84 billion) in assets under management and invests globally in digital infrastructure, energy and energy transition, transport and logistics, and real estate. Aura operates as a vertically integrated retirement living platform with 40 personnel headquartered in Brisbane and has a pipeline of more than 2,000 apartments over the next five years, including one development that broke ground in September 2025.
