Strategic Value Partners announced that Jean-Baptiste “JB” de Boissieu has joined the firm as a Managing Director and member of its European Investment Team.

In this role, de Boissieu will focus on pan-European liquid credit, private credit, restructurings, and special situations investments across SVP’s opportunistic credit investment platform.

De Boissieu joins SVP from Davidson Kempner, where he served as a Managing Director and focused on investments across the capital structure. Before Davidson Kempner, he held roles at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers, where he began his career in the M&A team.

Based in SVP’s London office, de Boissieu joins a growing European investment team that has invested more than $20 billion across the region since the firm was founded in 2001.

SVP said its European team uses the firm’s sourcing, investing, and operating expertise to identify and execute investment opportunities across the region. The appointment adds more than two decades of experience across European credit and equity markets to the firm’s platform.

Strategic Value Partners is a global alternative investment firm focused on special situations, private equity, opportunistic credit, and financing opportunities. The firm uses sourcing, financial, and operational expertise to unlock value in portfolio companies.

SVP manages approximately $21 billion in assets under management and has invested more than $60 billion of capital since inception. The firm was established by Victor Khosla in 2001 and has over 200 employees, including more than 100 investment professionals, across its main offices in Greenwich, Connecticut; New York; and London, with presences in Tokyo and Dubai.
