Strategy (the company previously known as MicroStrategy) runs a dual business model. The company offers enterprise analytics software and also has an aggressive Bitcoin Treasury Strategy. These strategies are driven by Strategy co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, who has become an outspoken advocate of Bitcoin.
Bitcoin Treasury Strategy: Since 2020, Strategy has become aggressively focused on buying Bitcoin, and it has become the company’s primary treasury reserve asset. The company has been purchasing vast amounts of Bitcoin with cash from operations, debt financing, and equity offerings. Since the company started buying Bitcoin, it’s stock price increased by over 3,500%.
This week, Strategy bought an additional 6,220 Bitcoins, according to an SEC filing. The cost of this purchase was about $739.8 million, and it was purchased between July 14 and July 20. As of July 20, 2025, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings reached 607,770 BTC.
The average price for all of Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings is approximately $71,756 per BTC, while BTC is currently priced at over $119,000.
Based on these numbers, Strategy now owns about 3% of the total circulating supply of Bitcoin. This makes Strategy by far the largest single corporate holder of Bitcoin globally.
Enterprise analytics software: Strategy’s enterprise analytics service is the company’s historical and foundational business. The company offers business intelligence (BI), mobile software, and cloud-based services. Their flagship product is Strategy ONE, a comprehensive platform used by many organizations.
