Stride Consumer Partners has acquired a majority interest in Clio Snacks, backing the rapidly growing refrigerated Greek yogurt bar company as it expands distribution, manufacturing, and its product portfolio.
Founded in 2015, Clio created a handheld Greek yogurt bar coated in chocolate and has developed the product into a broader refrigerated snacking platform.
The company traces its beginnings to founder Sergey Konchakovskiy experimenting with a batch of over-strained yogurt whose texture reminded him of a treat from his Eastern European childhood.
The resulting product was designed to combine Greek yogurt with a more indulgent snack format.
Clio has significantly expanded under CEO John McGuckin, who joined the company in 2021.
Revenue has more than quadrupled during his tenure as the company increased manufacturing capacity, expanded its retail footprint and added new products.
Clio is currently sold in roughly 60,000 stores nationwide.
The company expects to produce more than 150 million bars during 2026 from its 86,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Clio has also expanded beyond its original single-serving Greek Yogurt Bars with additional flavors and Mini multi-pack products.
The company is ranked ninth on Instacart’s list of leading Greek yogurt brands, according to the announcement.
Stride’s investment is expected to support additional brand building, distribution growth, manufacturing and operational capabilities and product innovation.
The investment firm focuses on consumer brands and had been following Clio for several years before completing the transaction.
Stride plans to work with Clio’s existing leadership team as the company seeks to establish itself as a larger brand in the yogurt and better-for-you snacking categories.
