Stryker has signed a definitive agreement to acquire ZuriMED, a privately held medical technology company that developed the FiberLocker System for rotator cuff augmentation.
The FiberLocker System is a commercialized soft-tissue augmentation technology designed to provide increased biomechanical strength and address a clinical failure mode associated with rotator cuff repair.
Stryker said the acquisition will expand its shoulder portfolio and strengthen its ability to support specialists across both sports medicine and shoulder arthroplasty.
Rotator cuff augmentation is one of the fastest-growing areas in sports medicine and represents an additional opportunity for Stryker to expand its shoulder care offerings.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
Until the transaction closes, Stryker and ZuriMED will continue operating as separate businesses.
Stryker provides medical technologies across MedSurg, Neurotechnology and Orthopaedics and says its products and services impact more than 150 million patients annually.
