Stryten Energy announced that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire C&D Technologies and Trojan Battery Company, collectively known as C&D Trojan. The transaction is expected to create a scaled battery manufacturing and energy storage platform serving critical markets globally.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
Upon completion of the deal, the combined company will continue to be led by Stryten Energy CEO and President Mike Judd. Stryten is a portfolio company of Atlas Holdings, while C&D Trojan is a portfolio company of KPS Capital Partners.
The acquisition will bring together two complementary energy storage companies with broad capabilities across lead and lithium-based battery technologies. The combined organization will serve transportation, essential power, industrial, military, and government markets.
Stryten said the combined company will offer one of the industry’s most comprehensive energy storage portfolios. Its transportation applications will include automotive, truck, heavy-duty, lawn and garden, marine, low-speed electric vehicles, RVs, and other uses.
In essential power, the combined company will support AI and data centers, uninterruptible power supply systems, telecommunications, utilities, nuclear, and grid infrastructure. In industrial markets, the portfolio will serve material handling, mining, railway, floor care, aerial work platforms, and other equipment categories.
The combined platform will also support military and government applications, including wheeled tactical vehicles, missile defense systems, submarines, logistics, and mission-critical infrastructure.
The acquisition is also expected to significantly expand Stryten’s U.S. manufacturing footprint. After the deal closes, Stryten will operate 15 battery manufacturing and component facilities across the U.S., supported by 3,700 employees.
Stryten said the expanded domestic footprint will strengthen its vertically integrated manufacturing supply chain and improve its ability to produce energy storage solutions at scale. The company also plans to expand Absorbent Glass Mat battery manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand for advanced lead batteries.
AGM battery demand is being driven by hybrid and start-stop vehicle technologies, as well as resiliency applications across data centers and telecom infrastructure. Stryten said the expanded scale and domestic manufacturing base will also improve its ability to support U.S. Department of War programs and other mission-critical infrastructure.
Stryten Energy provides energy storage solutions across Essential Power, Motive Power, Transportation, Military, and Government sectors. Its technologies include advanced lead, lithium, and vanadium redox flow batteries, along with intelligent chargers and energy performance management software.
C&D Trojan designs and manufactures stationary and specialty motive batteries. C&D Technologies’ stationary batteries are used in data centers, telecom, utilities, cable, broadband, government, renewable energy, and other mission-critical sectors, while Trojan-branded batteries power golf carts, low-speed electric vehicles, aerial lifts, floorcare machines, RVs, and boats.
