Subeca has raised approximately $3 million in additional funding to expand its smart water infrastructure platform and accelerate adoption among utilities and businesses across North America.
The Series A-2 round was led by Burnt Island Ventures, with participation from Cycle H2O, SUEZ, and additional investors. The financing follows Subeca’s $6 million Series A in 2024, which was led by SUEZ with participation from Burnt Island Ventures and Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund.
Subeca develops hardware and software for utility metering and net-zero sustainability metering. Its platform is designed to provide smaller and medium-sized utilities with a more affordable path to advanced metering infrastructure while helping customers track water consumption, detect leaks, and improve resource management.
The company said more than 51,000 utilities and businesses in the U.S. have historically faced barriers to advanced metering because of the cost and complexity of legacy technologies. Subeca’s communication module is manufactured in Cary, North Carolina and uses Amazon Sidewalk, a communications network that covers more than 90% of the U.S. population as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.
Subeca is currently live across 23 communities with its bundled smart meter and software package. The company is also targeting hyperscale customers as water consumption and sustainability measurement become increasingly important considerations for data centers and other large infrastructure users.
The new capital will support Subeca’s continued commercial expansion and development of its metering platform. Cycle H2O will also provide access to industry relationships and commercial networks through its partnership with H2O Innovation, expanding Subeca’s connections with municipal and industrial water customers.
