Sumitomo And G Mining Invest C$48 Million In Tintina For 25% Stake And Dos Amigos Copper-Gold Exposure

A special purpose vehicle jointly funded by Sumitomo Corporation and G Mining Group has invested approximately C$48 million in Tintina Mines, giving the partners exposure to the Dos Amigos copper-gold project in Chile’s Atacama Region.

The SPV is funded 50:50 by Sumitomo and G Mining and subscribed for roughly C$48 million of Tintina’s C$91 million private placement.

Following the financing, the vehicle owns approximately 25% of Tintina, which translates into an effective economic interest of roughly 25% in the Dos Amigos project at the SPV level.

Sumitomo’s effective economic interest is approximately 12.5%.

Proceeds from the private placement helped Tintina acquire additional interests in Dos Amigos, giving it 100% ownership of the project, and will also support development toward a final investment decision.

A 2026 Preliminary Economic Assessment identified approximately 101 million metric tons of measured and indicated mineral resources and roughly 256 million metric tons of inferred resources.

The project has an estimated 25-year mine life and benefits from nearby transportation and power infrastructure as well as relatively low elevation.

Current planning calls for an open-pit mine processing approximately 35,000 metric tons per day.

Projected annual production is approximately 37,000 metric tons of copper and 57,000 ounces of gold.

Over the estimated mine life, the project is expected to produce approximately 900,000 metric tons of copper and 1.4 million ounces of gold.

The investment forms part of Sumitomo’s strategy to strengthen its copper resource portfolio.

Sumitomo has identified copper as a strategic mineral and is working with G Mining to originate upstream investment opportunities rather than relying only on participation in established large-scale projects.

The partnership combines Sumitomo’s mining investment, project structuring and global business capabilities with G Mining’s engineering and mine construction expertise.

G Mining has previously worked on projects including Tocantinzinho in Brazil, Greenstone in Canada, Fruta del Norte in Ecuador and Merian in Suriname.
