Sunday has raised $21 million in Series B funding to accelerate its U.S. expansion and further modernize the restaurant payment experience nationwide. The round included participation from DST Global Partners and follows a year of significant growth for the Atlanta-based company.

Founded in 2021 by restaurateurs Christine de Wendel, Victor Lugger, and Tigrane Seydoux—the team behind the renowned European restaurant group Big Mamma—Sunday was created to make paying at restaurants fast and effortless. What began as a QR code payment tool has evolved into a comprehensive platform that connects every stage of guest interaction, including ordering, payment, loyalty, and CRM.

Now used by more than 3,000 restaurants worldwide, including high-profile groups such as TAO, Dishoom, Lettuce Entertain You, and Boqueria, Sunday’s technology has been embraced by establishments ranging from Michelin-starred venues to fast-casual chains. The company reports tangible benefits for operators, including faster table turnover averaging 12 minutes per table, an 11% average increase in U.S. tips, higher revenue, and a fivefold increase in Google reviews.

The company’s platform now processes over $4 billion annually and has facilitated transactions for more than 80 million diners. Sunday has tripled both its revenue and size over the past year, achieving 3x year-over-year growth. The U.S. has become its top market, and the new funding will be directed toward deepening its presence in key American cities, including Los Angeles, Austin, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, and Boston.

Beyond payments, Sunday is expanding its technology to include smart kiosks for high-volume fast-casual restaurants and a specialized solution for Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning establishments. The company aims to become the most widely adopted guest engagement platform in the hospitality industry by the end of the year.

KEY QUOTES:

“We’re building the category-defining platform for hospitality, one that connects every touchpoint into a single, frictionless experience. The appetite from the industry is huge, and we’re here to lead the charge.”

Christine de Wendel, Co-Founder and U.S. CEO, Sunday
