Suno: AI-Based Music Creation Company Secures $125 Million

By Amit Chowdhry • May 30, 2024

Suno, an AI-based music company, announced it has raised $125 million in funding.  The funding was provided by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, Matrix and Founder Collective.

And the company is working closely with a team of trusted advisors help make their vision a reality, including 3LAU, Aaron Levie, Alexandr Wang, Amjad Masad, Andrej Karpathy, Aravind Srinivas, Brendan Iribe, Flosstradamus, Fred Ehrsam, Guillermo Rauch, and Shane Mac.

The company released its first product eight months ago and it enables anyone to make a song with a simple idea. So far about 10 million people made music with Suno, including Grammy-winning artists. And the funding will be used to accelerate product development and grow a team of music makers, music lovers, and technologists. The community of musicians deserves the best tools.

The funding will be used to accelerate product development and grow the team. Suno was founded by Mikey Shulman, Georg Kucsko, Martin Camacho, and Keenan Freyberg. Suno’s founders met while working at Kensho (a financial AI company based out of Cambridge, Massachusetts). The four of them came up with the idea after realizing they had something else in common: a shared passion for making music.

KEY QUOTES:

“Our mission at Suno is to democratize music creation and unlock the musical creativity within everyone. With this new investment, we will accelerate the development of our AI technology, expand our reach, and empower a billion people worldwide to express themselves through music.”

  • Mikey Shulman

“Microsoft has integrated Suno directly in their AI-powered Copilot software. And Suno’s latest AI model, version 3, can generate full length songs worthy of top 40 radio airplay in mere seconds (like this one, a song about Suno made with Suno, of course). If Suno can do all that in a few months on a budget, we can’t imagine what they can accomplish with this new funding, a growing team of the world’s most talented and music-obsessed people, and a product roadmap that will reinvent the way we all experience music.”
