Suno, an AI-powered music creation platform, announced that it has raised more than $400 million in a Series D funding round at a $5.4 billion post-money valuation. The round was led by Bond Capital and included participation from IVP, Forerunner, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon, Quiet, Matrix, Lightspeed, Menlo Ventures, and Schroders Capital. The new financing comes roughly six months after Suno’s $250 million Series C round, which valued the company at $2.45 billion.
Founded with the goal of making music creation accessible to everyone, Suno has grown from an experimental AI music platform into a tool used by millions of creators, including professional producers, songwriters, and first-time music makers. The company said the funding will support the development of new music creation tools and experiences while expanding opportunities for artists and creators on the platform.
According to the company, more than half of Suno’s team members are musicians, and the platform has been developed in collaboration with artists, producers, and songwriters to better support creative workflows. Suno said it plans to continue investing in technology that helps users bring musical ideas to life while fostering stronger connections between creators and audiences.
The company also revealed that it expects to launch its first music model developed in partnership with the music industry in the coming months. Suno said it sees significant opportunities to create new fan experiences while helping artists expand their reach, build communities, and unlock new creative and economic opportunities.
The financing highlights continued investor enthusiasm for generative AI applications in music, despite ongoing legal and copyright debates surrounding AI-generated content. Several major music companies and rights holders have challenged AI music platforms over the use of copyrighted material in model training, although Suno has also pursued licensing partnerships with industry participants.
