Tabreed has appointed Dr Yousif Al Hammadi as Chief Executive Officer, elevating a longtime company executive who has spent 12 years across projects, business development, asset management and senior leadership at the district cooling provider.

The appointment marks the first time Tabreed has selected a new CEO from within the organization.

Al Hammadi had served as Interim CEO since January 2026.

He joined Tabreed in 2014 and initially held senior positions across Projects and Business Development before joining the Executive Management Team as Chief Asset Management Officer in 2022.

His tenure has included involvement in several of Tabreed’s most significant transactions and growth initiatives.

These include the acquisition of the Downtown Dubai district cooling infrastructure, the acquisition of PAL Cooling and the Palm Jebel Ali concession.

The appointment gives Tabreed a CEO with both institutional knowledge of its existing infrastructure portfolio and experience developing new assets and commercial opportunities.

Al Hammadi brings more than two decades of experience spanning Tabreed, Mubadala, ADNOC and the UAE Ministry of Interior.

Tabreed views that combination of operating, asset management and transaction experience as particularly relevant as demand for sustainable cooling infrastructure grows across the region.

District cooling systems centralize the production of chilled water and distribute cooling to multiple buildings or developments.

The model can play an important role in cities and large developments where cooling demand is substantial, particularly in warmer climates.

Tabreed operates as a major part of the UAE’s utilities infrastructure and has expanded its activities across multiple markets.

Its future growth strategy is tied to increasing demand for efficient and resilient cooling infrastructure as urban development continues and customers seek to manage energy consumption more effectively.

Al Hammadi’s progression from project and business development positions into asset management, interim CEO and now permanent CEO also provides continuity in the company’s strategic direction.

The board highlighted his relationships with investors and partners as another factor supporting the appointment.

KEY QUOTES:

“Tabreed is an essential part of the UAE’s utilities infrastructure and a key enabler of resilient cities. As demand for sustainable cooling continues to grow, leading the company requires strong expertise in the industry, strategic planning and asset management across diverse markets.”

Dr Bakheet Al Katheeri, Chairman of Tabreed
