Tailwind Capital, a growth-oriented private equity firm focused on Industrial and Technical Services, has made an investment in Valor Fleet Services, partnering with the Mid-Atlantic towing and roadside services platform to support its next phase of expansion.

Valor, headquartered in Leesburg, Virginia, provides light- and heavy-duty vehicle and equipment towing, specialized transport, recovery, storage, and roadside assistance. The company operates around the clock and serves a broad customer base, including municipal, state, and federal agencies, commercial enterprises, and individual motorists.

The partnership pairs Valor’s operating footprint and service capabilities with Tailwind’s experience scaling lower-middle-market services businesses through operational investments and add-on acquisitions. Executives from both organizations framed the deal as a platform-building opportunity in a highly fragmented towing and road services market, with room for consolidation alongside continued investment in service quality and safety.

Valor has been built as an integrated platform comprising multiple established local providers, including Road Runner Wrecker Service, Henry’s Wrecker Service, Windsor Towing Service, Al’s Towing and Storage, and Aaron’s Towing. The company said it supports its service model with centralized digital dispatch and operations centers that coordinate responses across its 14 locations.

As part of the transaction, Tailwind Operating Executive Bruce Dressel will join Valor’s board as Executive Chairman. The appointment is intended to add industry operating experience and governance support as the company pursues growth initiatives.

Support: Piper Sandler served as financial advisor to Valor, with Stevens & Lee acting as legal counsel. Davis Polk & Wardwell served as legal counsel to Tailwind.

KEY QUOTES:

“Tailwind brings the operational expertise and resources that will allow Valor to scale thoughtfully while staying true to our core values. Together, we look forward to accelerating organic growth, pursuing strategic acquisitions, and strengthening our position as a leader in the towing and road services industry.”

David Butcher, Chief Executive Officer, Valor Fleet Services

“Valor has earned an outstanding reputation in the industry. From our first meeting with the Valor team, we knew there was strong alignment around the strategic vision for the business. The towing and road services industry is highly fragmented, and we look forward to working closely with the Company to support its continued growth—both organically and through targeted acquisitions—while further strengthening its commitment to exceptional service, safety, and reliability for its customers.”
