Taliware, developer of innovative heart rhythm authentication and location tracking software, released its patented Cordoba L2 blockchain API, designed for embedded systems in digital cameras and smartphones. The Cordoba L2 instantly converts digital images into copyright-protected blockchain-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs), thus expanding the frontiers in digital content provenance with blockchain proof of ownership. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Taliware CEO Tarik Tali to learn more about the company.
Tarik Tali’s Background
What is Tarik Tali’s background? Tali has over 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley. And he holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from San Jose State University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. And Tali has held various positions from embedded software engineering to sales and marketing at Electronics For Imaging -EFI, Hewlett Packard / Agilent Technologies and others before founding Taliware.
Tali’s expertise lies in biometrics, geolocation, and blockchain. And he is particularly recognized for his work in geo-presence authentication using cardiac rhythms and holds several patents with others pending. His latest innovation combines these technologies for enhanced identity management and proof of ownership – DRM (digital rights management), promising significant applications across various industries.
Formation Of Taliware
How did the idea for the company come together? Tali said:
“The idea came about to leverage the ECG capabilities of the Apple Watch to authenticate or decline transactions. By analyzing the unique patterns of a person’s heartbeat, the system could verify their identity and authorize transactions securely. This approach offers a novel and potentially highly secure method of authentication, particularly in scenarios where traditional methods like passwords or biometrics like fingerprints might be impractical or compromised.”
Favorite Memory
What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Tali reflected:
“My favorite moment was the launch of location check-in using heartbeat -ECG biometrics”
Core Products
What are the company’s core products and features? Tali explained:
— On-chain image, audio, and video Authentication
— On-Chain Proof-of-Ownership – DRM-copyright; In-camera credentials; blockchain-based system provides indisputable proof of ownership, protecting creators’ rights and deterring unauthorized use.
— On-chain Authentication using Touch, Face, and ECG ID
— Crypto-Concierge: No crypto wallet needed by users; Metamask optional
— One-Touch Cryptocopygraphy (Patent), one-click payment: One touch does it all: Captures Photo/audio or video, Captures user’s biometrics, Converts asset to NFT, makes token payment, writes data on blockchain.
— One-touch authentication for digital copiers and printers
Challenges Faced
What challenges have Tali and the team faced in building the company? Tali acknowledged:
“We initially had an NDA with Nymi, a leading Canadian provider of wearables with embedded ECG signal capture. After successfully launching our solution, Nymi chose to block the ECG signal but continued selling us the wearables. Anticipating Apple’s move to integrate ECG capabilities, we began adapting our solution for the Apple Watch. Within 10 months, Apple announced its ECG-capable watch. Today, Taliware ECG runs seamlessly on the Apple Watch.”
Evolution Of The Company’s Technology
How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Tali noted:
“Initially, Taliware focused on geolocation authentication using biometrics for legal proof of presence. However, inspired by the potential of blockchain technology, we pivoted towards in-camera, on-chain content credentialing. Leveraging my experience in embedded systems and image printing from HP/Agilent and EFI, we recognized the opportunity to secure copyright management and proof of ownership for digital content.”
Significant Milestones
What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Tali cited:
“Taliware has pioneered several patented technologies, including biometric geo-authentication and on-blockchain authentication.”
“We’ve introduced the world’s first in-camera biometric NFTs. By developing a walletless, consumer-friendly blockchain, we’re accelerating the democratization of NFTs. We envision Cordoba L2 powering a wide range of applications, from smartphones and digital cameras to printers, copiers, ticketing, and beyond.”
Customer Success Stories
When asking Tali about customer success stories, he highlighted:
“The Cordoba L2 API was released for testing by developers on November 12, 2024. We look forward to providing user feedback on our blog in the near future.”
Funding
When asking Tali about the company’s funding, he revealed:
“Tarik Tali is the founder and is Taliware’s primary investor. We’ve been focused on R&D, resulting in several granted blockchain patents. By maintaining a lean operation, we’ve achieved significant milestones, including the successful launch of the Cordoba L2 Blockchain first release and the Cordoba Photo app on the App Store. We’ve recently signed NDAs with companies like Samsung and Nymi and are actively pursuing similar agreements with Sony, Canon, HP, Xerox, Battelle, Nikon, and Apple.”
Total Addressable Market
What total addressable market (TAM) size is the company pursuing? Tali assessed:
“We are looking $792.51 billion for smartphones and $6.83 billion for digital cameras by 2029. Multi-functional printers to reach $11 billion by 2032.”
Differentiation From The Competition
What differentiates the company from its competition? Tali affirmed:
“In-Camera Integration: Direct Integration: Cordoba L2 is designed to be directly integrated into devices like smartphones and cameras.”
“Real-time Authentication: It enables real-time authentication and copyright protection for digital content as soon as it’s captured.”
“User-Friendly Experience: Walletless Design: The platform eliminates the need for complex cryptocurrency wallets, Crypto knowhow, making it accessible to a wider audience.”
