Talon Air Bought In Private Deal, Returns To Independent Ownership Under CEO James Chitty

Talon Air, a Long Island-based private jet charter, aircraft management and maintenance provider, has been acquired in a private transaction that closed on January 2, 2026, positioning the company to operate as an independent business following several years as part of a larger aviation group.

The new ownership group is led by Talon Air CEO James Chitty and Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Piazza alongside an investment group focused on aviation. Talon Air had been affiliated with Vista, which became a shareholder after its acquisition of Apollo Jets in 2021. Chitty, who continued to run Talon during that period, will now lead the company under the new ownership structure.

Company leadership said the ownership change is intended to align control with management and support continued expansion in aircraft management and charter activity, while maintaining continuity for employees, aircraft owners and customers. Talon also plans to pursue new partnerships with private jet brokers and industry suppliers.

Talon Air is based at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York. The company said it is among the top 15 charter operators in the United States and manages a fleet of about 40 midsize, super-midsize and heavy jets, including Gulfstream IVSP, Gulfstream 450, Gulfstream V, and Bombardier Global 5000 and 6000 aircraft.

In 2025, Talon Air reported an increase in managed aircraft and charter hours, including the addition of 12 aircraft to its management operations during the fourth quarter, nine of which were added in December.

The company also maintains an FAA-approved repair and maintenance station and cited independent safety ratings and certifications including ARG/US Platinum Elite, Wyvern Wingman and IS-BAO Stage III. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
