Tamnoon: Interview With CEO & Co-Founder Marina Segal About The Cloud Security Remediation Company

By Amit Chowdhry • Mar 10, 2025

Tamnoon is a Managed Cloud Security Remediation service focused on mitigating cloud security risks. Pulse 2.0 interviewed Tamnoon co-founder and CEO Marina Segal to learn more about the company.

Marina Segal’s Background

Could you tell me more about your background? Segal said:

“I’m an entrepreneur and product leader with over 20 years of global experience in the Cloud Protection space. My career has spanned various hands-on consulting, managed services, practitioner and leadership roles in Cyber Security, MSSP, Risk Management, Compliance, and Governance. As the CEO and Co-Founder of Tamnoon, I’ve helped bring innovative managed cloud remediation services to the market. Prior to Tamnoon, I played a key role in enabling Dome9 (acquired by Check Point) and Sysdig to become leaders in the Cloud Security – CNAPP/CSPM space. My passion lies in leveraging technology to drive meaningful innovation and protecting customer’s environments from ongoing threats. I’ve focused my efforts on delivering high accuracy results in cloud security. I’m also a board member of the Cloud Security Alliance Seattle Chapter and the Founder of the WoSec Chapter Meetup – Bay Area.”

Formation Of The Company

How did the idea for the company come together? Segal shared:

“I co-founded Tamnoon with Idan Perez and Zohar Alon after we had previously worked together at Dome9 Security, which was later acquired by Check Point. During our time at Dome9, we encountered three major pain points in the cloud security industry. First, the rapid expansion of CNAPP and CSPM solutions outpaced the available resources for managing them. Second, we noticed that automated security tools lacked crucial business context, such as prioritizing key assets and properly tagging resources. Finally, remediation was often time-consuming and disruptive, with automated solutions risking breaking production environments. These challenges inspired us to create Tamnoon, a cloud remediation solution that combines human expertise with AI to address these issues more efficiently and safely.”

Favorite Memory

What has been your favorite memory working for the company so far? Segal reflected:

“Solving customers’ significant cloud exposures and achieving their goals are the most exciting moments, and of course, team offsites are always the best.”

Core Products

What are the company’s core products and features? Segal explained:

“Tamnoon offers a Managed Cloud Security Remediation service, blending human intelligence (HI) with AI technology to help teams reduce cloud security risks with minimal time and effort. The platform enables SecOps and DevOps teams to remediate critical cloud vulnerabilities, automate tasks, and minimize the time to resolution (MTTR) while maintaining business continuity. Tamnoon provides Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) and streamlines the remediation process by prioritizing alerts and applying preventive policies to avoid recurring issues.”

Evolution Of The Company’s Technology

How has the company’s technology evolved since launching? Segal noted:

“We started with CSPM for AWS only. Today we support the entire CNAPP market across all cloud environments, and are focused not only on remediation but also on prevention.”

Significant Milestones

What have been some of the company’s most significant milestones? Segal cited:

“2024 was a year of milestones for Tamnoon. We’re particularly proud of a few key achievements.

  • RSAC Launch Pad 2024 Finalist and Forrester Pick: At the RSA Conference (RSAC) Launch Pad in April 2024, I took the stage to present Tamnoon’s Managed Cloud Remediation platform. Among strong competition, Tamnoon was recognized as the winner by Forrester, thanks to our remediation simulation capabilities and as-a-service model. This accolade highlights our leadership in the cloud remediation space and showcases the value of our solution in enabling organizations to scale remediation efforts effectively.
  • Tamnoon Prevent Product Launch: We also launched Tamnoon Prevent this year, a Chrome extension that prevents misconfigurations in AWS environments before they are deployed. This tool is designed to improve cloud security by providing real-time, developer-friendly guidance on secure configuration options, reducing remediation overhead, and minimizing the risks of cloud misconfigurations. It allows teams to build secure cloud infrastructure from the start, easing tensions between security and development teams and dramatically reducing the noise from security alerts.
  • Series A Funding: Tamnoon secured $12 million in Series A funding, further fueling our growth and product innovation. (More on this below.)”

Customer Success Stories

Can you share any specific customer success stories? Segal highlighted:

  1. Zinnia, an insurtech company, used Tamnoon’s managed cloud detection and response platform to secure its complex cloud infrastructure. Through its partnership with Tamnoon, Zinnia was able to remediate 65% of high-severity misconfigurations and reduce MTTR for critical alerts by 72%. Tamnoon’s AI-powered platform helped Zinnia prioritize critical issues, simulate remediation paths, and prevent future misconfigurations, achieving significant improvements in their cloud security posture.
  2. A US-based dental management company partnered with Tamnoon to reduce alert noise by 70% and remediate over 1,000 high-severity misconfigurations within the first three months. Tamnoon’s AI-assisted triage process, combined with its cloud expertise, enabled the client to focus on the most critical issues, implement security best practices, and automate remediation.

Funding

Q.) Are you able to discuss funding and/or revenue metrics? Segal revealed:

Tamnoon recently secured $12 million in Series A funding, led by Bright Pixel Capital, with participation from new investors Blu Ventures, Mindset Ventures, and existing investors Merlin Ventures, Secret Chord Ventures, Inner Loop Capital, and Elron Ventures. This new investment brings Tamnoon’s total funding to over $18 million. Tamnoon began generating revenue in 2023 and is on track to reach $7M in ARR over the next 24 months. While not yet cash-positive, Tamnoon has a strong runway and a growing customer base.”

Total Addressable Market

What total addressable market (TAM) size is the company pursuing? Segal assessed:

“Tamnoon is addressing a $2.2 billion market, focusing on Fortune 1000+ companies in the entertainment, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.”

Differentiation From The Competition

What differentiates the company from its competition? Segal affirmed:

“Tamnoon’s unique hybrid approach combines human intelligence with AI, unlike competitors that offer either manual or fully automated solutions. By embedding its teams into customer environments and developing customized playbooks, Tamnoon ensures a contextual and precise remediation process, reducing the risks of breaking production environments while addressing the most critical issues. Unlike pure automation, which lacks business context, Tamnoon’s AI-powered platform tailors remediation to the unique needs of each organization, minimizing misconfigurations and ensuring long-term security improvements.”

Future Company Goals

What are some of the company’s future company goals? Segal emphasized:

“Tamnoon plans to accelerate product development and expand its partner ecosystem, with a focus on its patent-pending Tamnoon Prevent technology for proactive cloud exposure management. We also aim to broaden its market reach by forming strategic partnerships and driving innovation in cloud remediation technology, ultimately becoming the go-to provider for managed cloud security remediation services.”

Additional Thoughts

Any other topics you would like to discuss? Segal concluded:

“Automation for cloud security is not the panacea it is often made out to be. At first glance, it seems like the solution is automation – but the reality is that poorly implemented automation can do more harm than good. In their eagerness to adopt the latest innovations, organizations often learn the hard way that modifying production infrastructure without proper testing and oversight can lead to broken applications and lost revenue. We have seen studies from CSA show that only 9% of cloud misconfigurations are fixed in real-time with automation today. That’s why we believe the solution is to combine humans and AI.”
