Tata Communications has acquired a 51 percent stake in Commotion, marking a significant expansion of its AI capabilities across its global Digital Fabric portfolio. The deal, executed as a cash-only acquisition on a fully diluted basis through a Stock Purchase Agreement, brings an AI-native enterprise SaaS platform directly into Tata Communications’ offering as the company accelerates its shift toward becoming an AI-first organisation.

Commotion operates in the United States and India and provides an orchestration engine that will be integrated into Tata Communications’ Customer Interaction Suite, including Tata Communications Kaleyra. The combined solution is designed to help enterprises transition from reactive service responses to predictive and generative AI-powered interactions.

Commotion’s platform consolidates three primary components that enable large enterprises to automate complex workflows and deliver hyperpersonalised engagement at scale. These components include omnichannel CX automation for real-time, data-driven interactions, voice AI solutions based on ultra-low-latency speech-to-speech models, and business-ready autonomous digital agents capable of operating across both customer-facing and internal enterprise functions. The unified system brings together Voice AI, an Agentic AI Builder, and an Omnichannel Journey Orchestration engine to drive real-time personalisation and operational transformation.

Tata Communications stated that the acquisition will bolster its internal AI adoption efforts while strengthening its ability to help global enterprises transition from AI experimentation to full-scale operational deployment. The company expects continued momentum as Commotion’s capabilities expand across its Digital Fabric ecosystem.

The acquisition also reflects a shared strategic vision between the two companies, with leadership citing the transformative potential of combining Commotion’s innovation velocity with Tata Communications’ global reach and digital expertise.
