TCGX closed its oversubscribed TCGX Asia Life Sciences Fund I with $600 million in commitments. The new fund will focus on biotechnology companies based in Asia.
TCGX is also expanding its operations in the region with new offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The Asia fund will operate separately from, but in coordination with, TCGX’s flagship funds focused on biotechnology companies in the U.S. and Europe.
TCGX said the strategy reflects the increasing depth of biotechnology research, company formation, and drug development across Asian markets.
The fund plans to invest across multiple stages of company development and partner with entrepreneurs developing differentiated medicines for global patient populations.
The new vehicle gives TCGX a dedicated regional investment team while allowing portfolio companies to access the firm’s broader scientific expertise and international network.
TCGX now operates offices in Palo Alto, San Francisco, New York, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
