TD Bank Group has launched a five-year, $150 billion commitment to expand lending, underwriting, advisory and other financing activities across sectors the bank views as critical to Canada’s next phase of economic growth.

The initiative will focus on energy, critical minerals and resources, defence and aerospace, digital and artificial intelligence, and infrastructure.

TD said it plans to deploy capital, industry expertise and advisory capabilities to help finance new projects, support business expansion and connect investors with opportunities across those areas.

The commitment follows a TD Economics report estimating that approximately $1 trillion of new investment across more than 300 projects has already been approved or proposed through 2035 across the five targeted sectors.

With stronger policy support, TD Economics estimates that the broader Canadian investment cycle could reach as much as $1.7 trillion.

In energy, TD plans to support clean and conventional energy, power grids, energy infrastructure, storage and related services.

Its critical minerals and resources focus will include exploration, extraction, processing, refining and the equipment and services supporting those activities.

The defence and aerospace category includes naval projects, aerospace supply chains, cyber-defence capabilities and dual-use technologies with defence applications.

TD will also target digital and AI investments spanning AI innovation and commercialization, cloud infrastructure, secure digital networks and frontier technologies.

Infrastructure financing will include ports and trade corridors, railways, high-speed rail, roads, bridges and related infrastructure services.

The bank said it will continue investing in dedicated talent, specialized expertise and new capabilities related to the priority sectors.

TD plans to bring together teams from across the organization to identify opportunities, advise clients and directly support businesses and projects through new lending, underwriting, advisory and other financing activities. It also said it will provide public updates on progress under the commitment.

Beyond large-scale projects, the initiative includes support for small and mid-sized businesses, including programs intended to help companies adapt, scale and compete.

TD also plans to expand support for Indigenous economic participation through its Indigenous Banking Group and other capabilities, helping Indigenous organizations, businesses and communities participate in economic development and major projects.

Additional areas of focus include client-led investments in sustainable growth as well as workforce development and AI readiness.

The bank said it will invest in programs and partnerships intended to build skills needed across the target sectors, support workforce mobility and improve AI literacy, digital capabilities and entrepreneurship.

The $150 billion commitment represents a broad capital deployment strategy rather than a single investment fund, incorporating multiple forms of financing and advisory activity across TD’s banking and capital markets businesses.

TD Bank Group is the sixth-largest bank in North America by assets and serves approximately 28.2 million customers across Canadian Personal and Commercial Banking, U.S. Banking, Wealth Management and Insurance, and Wholesale Banking.

The bank had approximately $2.1 trillion in assets as of July 31, 2026 and more than 14 million active mobile banking users across Canada and the U.S.
