TEGNA Appoints Scott Gill As Vice President Of Technology And Operations

TEGNA announced that Scott Gill has been named Vice President of Technology and Operations. In this role, Gill will oversee engineering, technology, and sports operations across TEGNA’s 64 local television stations. He will lead efforts to strengthen station performance, modernize infrastructure, and support the delivery of local journalism across broadcast, streaming, mobile, and digital platforms.

Gill joined TEGNA in 2012 and most recently served as Head of Technology and Sports Operations. In that role, he helped advance the company’s digital transformation and supported technology and operational strategies across TEGNA’s broadcast station portfolio.

He also supported TEGNA’s live sports and programming operations, including initiatives across NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLB, other live sports, and nationally syndicated programming.

Gill has also directed and managed TEGNA’s drone and helicopter technologies and pilot operations. These efforts helped stations expand newsgathering capabilities while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Before joining TEGNA, Gill spent 10 years in field operations with Fox News Network, supporting major news and live-event productions. His career also includes work with Harpo Productions on The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as roles with numerous television stations and production facilities.

Gill is also a former EMT and pilot, bringing additional field operations and safety experience to the role.

TEGNA is a multiplatform media company operating 64 local television stations in 51 U.S. markets, along with hundreds of websites, mobile and Connected TV apps, and Premion, a Connected TV and OTT advertising platform. TEGNA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group and operates independently consistent with the Hold Separate Order issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California on April 17, 2026.
