TemperPack Acquires Cruz Foam Intellectual Property Portfolio Including 23 Patents And Patent Applications

TemperPack has acquired Cruz Foam’s intellectual property portfolio, expanding its materials science capabilities in bio-based alternatives to traditional plastic packaging.

The portfolio includes 23 patents and patent applications across multiple jurisdictions. TemperPack acquired the assets through a creditor-benefit assignment.

Cruz Foam developed bio-based materials intended to provide high-performance alternatives to conventional single-use plastics. Although Cruz Foam is winding down its operations, its intellectual property will now become part of TemperPack’s efforts to develop scalable and sustainable packaging technologies.

TemperPack plans to use the acquired IP to support development of cold-chain packaging solutions for life sciences, healthy food, and e-commerce applications. The company is focused on combining materials science, packaging design, and process engineering to replace legacy plastics while maintaining performance requirements for temperature-sensitive shipments.

The acquisition complements TemperPack’s broader work in sustainable packaging. Since its founding in 2015, the company has developed alternatives designed to reduce unnecessary plastic waste while supporting the transportation of food, nutrition products, and medicines.

TemperPack said its products have protected more than 300 million shipments for customers across the life sciences and Food-is-Health markets. The company is also a Certified B Corporation.
