Tenzai, an AI-native cybersecurity company built to identify autonomously and remediate vulnerabilities in enterprise software, has launched out of stealth with a $75 million seed round. This marks one of the largest known seed rounds in the cybersecurity sector. The funding was led by Greylock Partners, Battery Ventures, and Lux Capital, with participation from Swish Ventures and several angel investors.
The company is focused on addressing the growing gap between the speed of modern software development and the slower pace of security testing. Enterprises now deploy updates multiple times per day and increasingly rely on AI-generated code, but penetration testing remains periodic, often leaving production systems untested. Tenzai introduces an AI-driven offensive security platform designed to continuously hack, exploit, and repair vulnerabilities at enterprise scale.
The founding team includes long-time cybersecurity and offensive operations experts Pavel Gurvich, Ariel Zeitlin, Ofri Ziv, Itamar Tal, and Aner Mazur. Gurvich and Zeitlin co-founded Guardicore, with Ziv and Tal also being part of the founding team. Guardicore was acquired by Akamai in 2021 for $600 million. Mazur previously served as the founding Chief Product Officer at Snyk. The team brings direct experience from military intelligence units and various leadership roles in cybersecurity.
Investors highlighted the growing cybersecurity risk posed by AI-generated code and the need for new defensive and offensive capabilities to match enterprise-scale deployment and automation.
With the latest funding, Tenzai will expand its research and security teams, strengthen its autonomous offensive features, and accelerate its go-to-market strategy across North America and Europe. Early implementations are already taking place in financial services, healthcare, and technology organizations.
Tenzai describes its mission as enabling enterprises to move quickly while maintaining strong security assurances by integrating continuous offensive security into the core of the development and deployment cycle.
KEY QUOTES:
“Pentesting hasn’t changed much since I was a pentester in high school some 25 years ago. Back then the work was episodic and manual. Today, AI allows us to bring elite, nation-grade offensive capabilities at a scale and speed that were previously impossible. In large enterprises with hundreds of applications that change daily, providing real security assurance is only possible with autonomous AI that can find and fix vulnerabilities at enterprise scale. That’s why we built Tenzai to bring always-on offensive capabilities so organizations can move fast and stay secure.”
Pavel Gurvich, Co-Founder and CEO of Tenzai
“AI generated code is creating new cybersecurity risks and challenges for enterprises. We are excited to partner with the exceptionally talented team at Tenzai, on the mission to build the industry’s leading agentic AI penetration testing platform.”
