TerraClear, an agricultural automation company focused on turning field data into actionable insights, announced the appointment of Eric Rombokas as Director of Robotics and Hardware. The move comes as the company accelerates development of its autonomous systems for large-acre row crop operations.
Rombokas brings more than 15 years of experience developing autonomous systems designed for complex, unstructured environments. In his new role, he will lead the advancement of TerraClear’s robotics and autonomy platforms, with a particular focus on strengthening field-ready performance and scaling sensing systems for real-time agricultural operations.
Prior to joining TerraClear, Rombokas held an academic role at the University of Washington, where he served as an Affiliate Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. His work has centered on integrating perception, control systems, and machine learning, expertise that aligns with TerraClear’s mission to deploy robust, real-world agricultural robotics.
At TerraClear, his immediate priorities include enhancing the autonomy capabilities of the TerraScout platform, the company’s autonomous field scouting system designed to capture high-resolution ground imagery and generate real-time prescriptions for challenges such as weeds and rocks. The platform is intended to help growers optimize inputs, improve yields, and reduce labor inefficiencies.
The company views this leadership addition as a key step in scaling its technology to meet the demands of modern agriculture, where reliable autonomy and data-driven decision-making are becoming increasingly critical.
KEY QUOTES:
