Tharimmune Adds Jill Sommers And William Wiley To Board As Canton Network Strategy Expands

By Amit Chowdhry ● Feb 2, 2026

Tharimmune has appointed Jill Sommers and William Wiley, CFA, to its board of directors, effective February 1, 2026, as the company advances its effort to support the Canton Network and its associated financial market infrastructure strategy.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Wendland said the appointments align with the company’s push to modernize market infrastructure through a digital asset treasury approach tied to Canton Coin, adding that the new directors bring governance experience and an understanding of market structure and regulation that will be relevant to the company’s role in the ecosystem.

Sommers brings nearly three decades of experience across derivatives and financial markets, including two consecutive terms as a commissioner at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). She most recently served as chair of the Derivative Practice Group at Potamak Global Partners until March 2025. Earlier roles included policy director and head of government affairs at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), as well as managing director of regulatory affairs at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Wiley adds operating and strategy experience spanning electronic trading and global platform scaling. He currently serves at DRW as head of the Equities and Latency Sensitive Business Unit and chief of staff to the firm’s founder and chief executive officer. He previously served as chief operating officer of that business unit, and before DRW, he was global head of strategy at Instinet Holdings Inc., where he led strategy, operations, and transactions across the institutional equities brokerage franchise.

The company said it established a differentiated digital asset treasury strategy in November 2025. In addition to acquiring CC and operating as a Super Validator, it intends to invest in applications built on the Canton Network aimed at accelerating institutional adoption and utility across capital markets. Tharimmune also described itself as the first and only publicly traded company supported by the Canton Foundation, while continuing to operate a clinical-stage biotech R&D business.
