Heartwood Partners announced that The Amlon Group has acquired Mastermelt America, adding a facility in Sweetwater, Tennessee, that processes and treats complex industrial waste streams for customers across the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace, and power generation industries. The transaction closed in May 2025, and the site now operates as Amlon Sweetwater.
The new facility broadens Amlon’s technical capabilities beyond hazardous waste treatment and disposal, adding capacity for thermal processing and chemical dissolution for materials that require specialized metallurgical and engineering expertise. Heartwood and Amlon positioned the deal as a strategic step in Amlon’s evolution into a broader environmental solutions platform, serving customers seeking more comprehensive waste-processing options across multiple industrial categories.
In addition to expanding services, the Sweetwater facility extends Amlon’s footprint in the Southeast and complements the company’s existing operations in Texas and Louisiana. Heartwood said it sees a meaningful opportunity for Amlon to continue building through capability expansion and further platform development, supported by customer demand for integrated, single-source environmental solutions.
Heartwood Partners described its investment approach as a lower-leverage, current-cash-yield model designed to partner with continuing management teams, supported by an in-house value-creation capability spanning areas such as acquisition integration, IT improvement, human capital, and go-to-market support. Amlon described its mission as providing sustainable, responsible, and efficient end-to-end environmental solutions that remediate waste and recycle valuable commodities.
KEY QUOTES
“The Mastermelt acquisition is a game changer for our business. This facility brings critical capabilities in thermal processing and chemical dissolution of complex industrial materials. While our existing facilities excel at hazardous waste treatment and disposal, Sweetwater adds specialized processing capabilities for spent catalysts, electronic components, and aerospace materials – waste streams that require metallurgical and engineering expertise. This positions Amlon as a more comprehensive environmental solutions provider for our customers across multiple industries.”
“Beyond the capabilities expansion, Sweetwater strengthens our geographic footprint in the Southeast, complementing our existing Texas and Louisiana operations. The facility’s advanced thermal processing and chemical dissolution capabilities, together with the team’s expertise in industrial waste streams, create immediate value for customers who need comprehensive waste processing solutions.”
Mark Wayne, CEO & President, The Amlon Group
“We’re excited to support Mark and the entire Amlon team in this strategic chapter of growth. The Sweetwater acquisition demonstrates Amlon’s continued evolution from a pure-play waste treatment company into a platform that delivers comprehensive environmental solutions – expanding their processing capabilities to handle the most complex industrial waste streams across multiple industries. This acquisition aligns perfectly with our thesis that customers increasingly demand integrated environmental solutions from partners who can serve as their single-source provider for specialized waste treatment. We see significant runway for Amlon to build on this foundation and continue serving as the partner of choice for manufacturers who take their environmental compliance and sustainability commitments seriously.”
