The LYCRA Company has appointed Hua Du as Chief Executive Officer as the fiber and materials technology company begins its next phase following completion of its financial restructuring.
Du assumed the role on September 14 and succeeds Dean Williams, who served as interim CEO and will remain Chief Financial Officer.
Du brings approximately 30 years of leadership experience across specialty chemicals and biotechnology.
He most recently served as CEO of private equity-backed animal nutrition company Grobest Group, where he led an operational turnaround that culminated in the company’s sale.
Earlier, Du held senior leadership positions at Rhodia, which was later acquired by Solvay, and managed electronic materials businesses across Asia for Rohm and Haas before its acquisition by Dow Chemical.
His appointment comes after LYCRA completed a financial restructuring designed to position the business for continued investment and growth.
The company develops fiber and technology products for apparel and personal care and owns brands including LYCRA, LYCRA HyFit, LYCRA T400, COOLMAX, THERMOLITE, ELASPAN, SUPPLEX and TACTEL.
Du is expected to focus on innovation, operational performance and global commercial growth as the company moves beyond its restructuring.
