The Portal announced that it has raised $5 million to support the launch of its second location, a 15,000-square-foot flagship members club in Downtown Austin scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
Founded as a membership club centered on human flourishing, wellness, creativity, and community, The Portal debuted in Marin and San Francisco in 2024. The organization has cultivated a network of founders, creatives, technologists, wellness practitioners, and cultural leaders.
The Austin location, situated at 601 Rio Grande, will serve as an urban sanctuary designed to foster wellbeing, thought leadership, and meaningful connections. The facility will include a rooftop pool, cold plunges, a 30-person sauna, a movement studio, an advanced sound system, a restaurant and bar, a members’ lounge, a coworking space, an art gallery, a podcast studio, and a rooftop stage.
Programming at the new location will feature live music performances, keynote talks, salon discussions, immersive experiences, movement classes, and gatherings led by members. Members will also gain reciprocal access to more than 30 partner clubs around the world.
The Austin project is being designed by FanFare, a creative agency focused on culture and experiences. The effort is being led by FanFare founder Bill Swano and lead interior designer Bernadette Stewart.
The funding round included participation from a number of investors and entrepreneurs, including Tim Ferriss, Matt Mullenweg, Ankush Gera, JP Newman, Michael Fishman, Ravi Bhojwani, and several other business and cultural leaders.
The company’s advisory group includes technology, wellness, and cultural figures such as Randall Mays, Miki Agrawal, and Dr. Mark Hyman.
