The Sports Facilities Companies announced it has acquired Spirit Golf Management, establishing a new Golf Division as part of its broader expansion into golf and community-based programming.
The acquisition brings Spirit Golf’s portfolio of municipal, public, residential, and private golf facilities into SFC’s national platform. Spirit Golf will continue operating under its existing brand while serving as the foundation for SFC’s golf vertical.
SFC said the deal strengthens its ability to support public-sector partners and integrate golf into its wider ecosystem of youth sports, recreation, and community programming. The company plans to incorporate golf into its nationwide offerings, including youth camps and multi-sport initiatives designed to introduce younger participants to the game.
Spirit Golf currently manages or consults on 10 golf facilities across the Northeast. Several of these properties will transition into full management under SFC’s platform. The transaction also brings approximately 160 full-time and seasonal employees into SFC, including PGA of America Golf Professionals.
As part of the integration, Spirit Golf founder and president Mike Attara will lead the new Golf Division as senior vice president, alongside Kevin Beirne as vice president. SFC emphasized that the leadership team will play a key role in scaling golf operations and programming nationwide.
The companies highlighted Spirit Golf’s expertise in municipal golf operations, youth player development, and community-focused initiatives as central to the strategic rationale for the deal. SFC also plans to expand the Spirit Golf Academy model across its facilities, integrating structured instruction and player development programs into its broader network.
The acquisition reflects SFC’s broader strategy to expand beyond traditional sports facility management into golf, leveraging rising participation trends and increasing demand for accessible, community-oriented programming.
