Therm: $3.6 Million Series A Raised To Decarbonize The Food Supply Chain

By Amit Chowdhry • Aug 25, 2025

Therm Solutions, a pioneering developer of carbon projects dedicated to decarbonizing the food supply chain, recently secured $3.6 million in Series A funding. This investment comes from the same private backers who participated in Therm’s seed round in 2021 and will be instrumental in fueling the company’s global expansion and scaling its Super Pollutant Carbon Credits.

The voluntary carbon market for credits targeting super pollutants is expected to reach $10 billion by 2030, and Therm is positioning itself at the forefront of this growth. Super pollutants, which include potent greenhouse gases like refrigerants and methane, are substantially more impactful than carbon dioxide—ranging from hundreds to thousands of times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere. These gases have contributed up to 45% of observed global warming to date. Since the food supply chain is both the largest consumer of refrigerants and a significant generator of methane, focusing on this sector is crucial for impactful emissions reduction.

Therm’s approach involves the development and issuance of Super Pollutant Carbon Credits, which are generated through projects that replace harmful refrigerants and reduce food waste. To date, Therm has issued over 2 million credits across North America and Europe. The company’s projects have received high praise from BeZero Carbon, achieving two A ratings and one AA rating for its latest initiative, placing Therm among the top 2% of carbon projects globally.

By operating in voluntary, compliance, and Scope 3 insetting markets, Therm is able to channel climate finance directly to grocery stores, convenience stores, cold storage operators, and farmers. This model not only accelerates the reduction of super pollutant emissions but also delivers immediate and permanent climate benefits with verified integrity, helping the food supply chain transition toward a more sustainable future.

KEY QUOTES:

“We built Therm to bring climate finance to high-impact solutions that reduce super pollutants. This funding empowers us to cement our leadership in this critical category, scale our organization worldwide, and capture this multi-billion dollar opportunity.”
