Thoro: CoreFlex Autonomous Platform Unveiled With Orbbec Partnership To Scale Industrial Automation

By Amit Chowdhry • Today at 2:22 AM

Thoro, an industrial automation innovator, announced the launch of its new modular autonomy platform, CoreFlex, at MODEX 2026, North America’s leading supply chain and logistics trade show. The solution is designed as a large-scale, infrastructure-free autonomy stack capable of supporting multiple types of industrial vehicles, enabling more scalable, flexible deployment of automation across warehouse and material-handling environments.

CoreFlex integrates high-quality sensors, lightweight autonomy compute, and standardized plug-and-play interfaces, all unified through Thoro’s autonomy software, fleet management system, and cloud platform. This full-stack architecture enables OEMs to accelerate time-to-market, reduce development costs, and deploy a single autonomy solution across multiple robotic platforms without rebuilding systems from the ground up.

A key component of the platform is Orbbec’s Gemini 336 stereo 3D camera, which enhances the system’s navigation, obstacle detection, and pallet handling with greater precision. The camera’s MX6800 depth engine delivers high-quality depth perception, supporting smoother navigation and accurate object handling. Its active infrared imaging improves performance in complex environments, including variable lighting conditions and reflective surfaces, while its compact, modular design aligns with CoreFlex’s cross-platform architecture. The system also demonstrates strong consistency across deployments, helping reduce edge-case failures and improve operational reliability.

Thoro and Orbbec emphasized that this combination of hardware and software enables stable, efficient autonomous operations in demanding warehouse environments. The companies also revealed plans to expand their collaboration, with four new autonomous mobile robots expected next year, targeting both cleaning and material handling applications across multiple industries.

Thoro currently supports more than 1,300 deployed systems globally. The company, which was spun out of Carnegie Robotics and recognized as a 2025 Pittsburgh Tech50 winner, focuses on enabling OEMs to deploy safe and scalable autonomous solutions with minimal in-house development.
