Timefold Raises $13 Million Series A To Expand Routing And Scheduling APIs

Timefold announced that it has raised $13 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Alstin Capital, with participation from Kompas VC and continued backing from existing investors Lakestar and Smartfin.

Timefold is a developer platform for vehicle routing and shift scheduling APIs. The company enables software teams in field service and workforce management to integrate enterprise-grade scheduling optimization into their products and operations.

The funding follows a year of strong commercial momentum for the company. Timefold said its annual recurring revenue grew 4x in 2025 as enterprises and software vendors embedded its APIs into mission-critical field service and scheduling workflows.

Customers using Timefold include NEC Software Solutions, CBRE, Orange Telecom, ADP, Lufthansa, Thales, and Subaru.

The new funding will be used to accelerate Timefold’s U.S. expansion and support platform product development as demand grows for easy-to-integrate scheduling optimization infrastructure.

Timefold said the rise of AI agents is increasing the need for reliable scheduling optimization. While AI systems can understand requests and generate schedules, Timefold said production scheduling requires deterministic optimization that can handle real-world constraints.

The company’s technology helps teams automate decisions such as which technician should visit which customer, how to respond when a technician calls in sick, and how to create fair, compliant, and fully staffed shift schedules.

Timefold said its platform can handle complex constraints across operational environments such as field service, where companies must coordinate jobs while balancing technician qualifications, service-level agreements, labor regulations, travel times, customer availability, and real-time disruptions.

The company said customers have used its technology to reduce drive time, cut travel distance, eliminate overtime, and compress scheduling workflows that previously took weeks into minutes.

Timefold’s goal is to become the default platform for building, deploying, and operating scheduling optimization models as AI-generated applications become more common.

KEY QUOTES:

“Schedules run the world. We are all at the mercy of a schedule, and so are the millions of frontline workers whose days depend on getting it right. As software becomes increasingly autonomous, optimization becomes foundational infrastructure. That’s why we believe Timefold is the best vehicle routing scheduler. Our platform gives software builders the ability to embed enterprise-grade decision intelligence into their applications, enabling better outcomes for businesses, workers, and customers alike.”

Maarten Vandenbroucke, CEO of Timefold

“We chose Timefold because it gave us a practical way to bring advanced planning AI into real operations without slowing down delivery. Their technology helped us move faster, create clear operational value, and strengthen how we bring optimization capabilities to our customer base.”

Kay Aston of NEC Software Solutions

“What matters in mission-critical scheduling isn’t creativity, it’s correctness: a shift roster or a vehicle route has to be right, compliant, and reproducible every time. LLMs aren’t built for that. What convinced us to lead Timefold’s round was the team’s understanding of exactly that constraint, and what they’ve built around it. They’ve taken a battle-tested open source optimization engine and wrapped it in modular products that any enterprise can deploy, without needing a team of mathematicians. That’s how deep optimization technology becomes infrastructure, and we believe Timefold is best placed to own that category.”
