Tom Beckbe has received a minority investment from Cox Outdoors to support the outdoor apparel and gear company’s growth, retail expansion, product development and conservation efforts. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
Tom Beckbe was founded in 2015 by Radcliff and Mary Menge in Birmingham, Alabama.
The company began with the concept of creating a better hunting jacket and has since expanded into a broader range of outdoor apparel and equipment for field and everyday use.
Its products are sold online and through a growing network of company-owned and partner retail stores.
Tom Beckbe is also preparing to open a new retail location in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood in September.
Cox Outdoors is the newest division of Cox Enterprises and focuses on partnering with outdoor consumer brands.
The division is intended to support conservation initiatives and long-term growth across its partner businesses.
The investment will help Tom Beckbe pursue additional retail stores, develop new products and continue supporting conservation organizations.
Those organizations include Ducks Unlimited and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust.
Tom Beckbe will continue operating independently under its founders following the investment.
The company’s existing team, operating approach and focus on craftsmanship will remain in place.
KEY QUOTES:
“We built Tom Beckbe with a focus on great products, great customer service, and support for conservation. Our new partnership with Cox will allow us to double down on those core values. Cox has been doing business the same way for generations, putting people first and thinking in decades instead of quarters. And that’s exactly the partner we wanted.”
Radcliff Menge, Co-Founder of Tom Beckbe
“We’re very excited to be in business with Tom Beckbe. Radcliff and Mary have built a great business on family values and a conservation ethic that resonates with Cox’s values. I love their stuff and look forward to building something great together.”
Alex Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Cox Enterprises
