Tonix Pharmaceuticals is seeing accelerating adoption of TONMYA, with refills increasing 207% quarter-over-quarter and total payer coverage expanding to approximately 136 million U.S. lives as the company scales commercialization of the fibromyalgia treatment.
TONMYA generated approximately $11 million of second-quarter net sales, an increase of 197% sequentially. The drug is the first FDA-approved treatment for fibromyalgia in more than 15 years and is positioned as a non-opioid treatment designed for daily bedtime administration and long-term use.
Total prescriptions reached 12,592 during the quarter, increasing 100% sequentially. New patient prescriptions increased 36%, while refills surged 207%. Some prescriptions include bridge prescriptions provided while payer coverage decisions are pending and therefore do not immediately generate product revenue.
Coverage across commercial insurance, managed Medicare and Medicaid now represents approximately 136 million people, equivalent to roughly 43% of the approximately 314 million covered lives in the U.S. Commercial agreements reached in May and June provided access to approximately 52 million lives.
That figure is expected to grow further. A managed Medicare payer agreement scheduled to take effect January 1, 2027, is expected to add approximately 9 million Medicare lives, increasing total coverage to about 145 million, or roughly 46% of U.S. covered lives. TONMYA is also covered by Medicaid in most states, representing about 75 million lives.
Tonix is expanding its commercial organization to capitalize on the broader coverage. The company plans to add 50 sales representatives by September, increasing its TONMYA sales force to approximately 150 people.
Tonix ended Q2 with approximately $176.2 million of cash and cash equivalents. The company is simultaneously advancing programs in major depressive disorder, Lyme disease prevention, kidney transplant rejection and other indications.
