Total Metals has appointed Dr. Andrew J. Ramcharan as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of its Board of Directors, effective September 22, 2026. He succeeds Tyler Thorburn, who is stepping down as CEO, President, and director. Ramcharan brings 25 years of mining, exploration, corporate development, and investment banking experience as the company advances its Canadian gold and critical mineral portfolio.
Ramcharan began his career as a mine planning engineer at Dynatec Corporation, where he contributed to the development of the McCreedy and Levack mines in northern Ontario.
He subsequently served as Manager of Corporate Development at IAMGOLD, supporting more than $600 million in equity financings and over $800 million in project acquisitions.
In 2013, Ramcharan led the discovery of a gold resource exceeding one million ounces in Panama. His financial experience also includes senior roles at Sprott Resource Lending and Resource Capital Funds, where he evaluated more than 300 mining projects and oversaw numerous debt and equity financings.
Ramcharan holds a doctorate and master’s degree in mining engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario.
His appointment comes as Total Metals advances several exploration projects in Eastern Canada.
Its Electrolode Project, located in the Red Lake Gold camp, is fully permitted for exploration drilling and includes 10 historical mineralized zones and additional exploration targets.
The company also owns the High Lake and West Hawk Lake properties along the Manitoba-Ontario border, holds an option on the Menary gold property, and has added the Pick Lake critical minerals property.
