Tottenham Hotspur is a professional English men’s association soccer club based in Tottenham, North London, known as the “Spurs” or “Lilywhites.” The club announced a new £100 million ($133 million) investment from the Lewis family.

The club plays in the Premier League, which is known as a top tier of English football. And the club is known for its passionate fanbase, a historic North London Derby rivalry with Arsenal, and a modern home stadium called Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (the third largest football stadium in England and the largest club ground in London).

Lewis is a British businessman and investor who holds several assets mainly through his Tavistock Group investment portfolio. He was previously the majority owner of ENIC Group, which is also the majority owner of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

This announcement comes on the heels of last month’s £90 million financial deal with Macquarie Group. This is part of the ownership’s ongoing efforts to demonstrate its commitment to the club and improve Tottenham’s ability to compete for major trophies.

The executive team will determine the allocation of the funding, which is expected to be a broad investment encompassing player acquisitions.

KEY QUOTES:

“As I stated a few weeks ago, our focus is on stability and empowering the management team to deliver on the Club’s ambitions. I know the Lewis family are also ambitious for the future. Today’s capital commitment reflects that ambition and I would like to thank them for their ongoing support. We will continue to do all we can to ensure that Vinai and his team are supported in the best way possible to take this Club forward.”
