Toyota announced that it will invest up to $10 billion in its United States operations over the next five years, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in the country. The new allocation will increase Toyota’s cumulative U.S. investment to nearly $60 billion, marking nearly 70 years since the company first established operations in the region.

The announcement coincided with the opening ceremony of Toyota Battery Manufacturing, North Carolina, which has now officially begun production. Established in November 2021, the facility is Toyota’s first in-house battery manufacturing company outside Japan, representing nearly $14 billion in investment. The plant is expected to create up to 5,100 new jobs and become Toyota’s eleventh manufacturing facility in the United States.

The battery plant is a central element of Toyota’s strategy to grow through localized production and expand offerings tailored to specific regional needs through a broad multi-pathway approach. Toyota currently employs approximately 50,000 people in the United States and has contributed to the development and production of over 35 million vehicles across its eleven existing manufacturing locations. The launch of the new facility and the additional multibillion-dollar commitment signal the company’s intent to remain a major manufacturing force while supporting local communities and supplier networks.
