TPG has signed a definitive agreement through The Rise Funds, its global impact investing strategy, to make a significant investment in Tablet Command, a provider of incident management and response software used by fire departments and emergency response agencies.
The partnership is intended to support Tablet Command’s continued growth as emergency response organizations adopt more digital tools to coordinate increasingly complex incidents, including wildfires and other large-scale natural disasters.
Founded in 2011 by Andy Bozzo and William Pigeon, Tablet Command develops real-time incident management software designed specifically for first responders.
Its platform digitizes several core incident command workflows, including tactical command, unit tracking, personnel accountability and post-incident reporting. The software is intended to help emergency teams coordinate personnel, resources and information while improving situational awareness during fast-moving incidents.
Tablet Command currently serves more than 180 fire departments and emergency response agencies across the U.S. and Canada, including CAL FIRE.
The company also supports approximately 28 of the largest fire departments in the United States, giving it a substantial presence among major emergency response organizations.
The investment comes as fire departments face larger and more complicated emergencies that can require coordination across numerous units, personnel and jurisdictions.
Tablet Command’s platform gives incident commanders a digital view of operations in real time, helping replace or supplement manual processes that can be difficult to manage during rapidly evolving emergencies.
TPG is making the investment through The Rise Funds, which focuses on businesses that seek to generate measurable social and environmental impact alongside financial returns.
For TPG, Tablet Command fits within that strategy because its technology can support emergency preparedness and response while helping communities address growing risks from natural disasters.
The investment is also expected to give Tablet Command additional resources to expand its team, develop its technology and support a larger customer base.
The company’s origins are closely tied to the needs of first responders. Bozzo and Pigeon created Tablet Command around challenges encountered directly in the field, and the company has continued to emphasize purpose-built workflows rather than adapting general enterprise software for emergency response.
That specialization has helped Tablet Command establish relationships with departments ranging from local agencies to large statewide and metropolitan organizations.
As climate-related disasters and other emergency events become more complex, fire departments increasingly need technology capable of coordinating large numbers of personnel, apparatus and information in real time.
Tablet Command is positioning its software as part of the infrastructure supporting that transition, giving incident commanders tools to improve coordination while maintaining visibility across an entire response.
TPG’s investment is intended to help the company accelerate that expansion while maintaining its focus on technology developed specifically for first responders.
