Tractian Raises $130 Million Series D At $1.4 Billion Valuation To Scale Physical AI Platform

Tractian has raised $130 million in Series D funding at a $1.4 billion valuation to expand its Physical AI platform for manufacturers, data centers, utilities, defense organizations, and other asset-heavy industries. The round was led by Sapphire Ventures and co-led by M&G’s Catalyst strategy. N47, General Catalyst, Bosch Ventures, 53 Stations, Monashees, Endeavor Catalyst, Norte Ventures, and Y Combinator also participated.

Tractian plans to use the financing to scale its multimodal intelligence technology and broaden a platform designed to monitor the health of critical industrial machinery, diagnose potential failures, and recommend actions to operations teams.

The company’s technology combines physically deployed sensors with AI trained on a large dataset of industrial equipment failures. Its platform analyzes vibration, ultrasound, and other sensor data to build a continuously updated view of a machine’s condition.

Tractian’s agentic system then uses that information to identify potential root causes and provide operators with recommended actions. The company is expanding its focus from predicting individual equipment failures toward managing the overall health of critical assets.

More than 2,000 facilities worldwide use Tractian’s technology. Customers include Eli Lilly, McKesson, Whirlpool, Coca-Cola bottling operations, Cummins, and Embraer, along with undisclosed operators of mission-critical data centers and government infrastructure.

Tractian is targeting applications across pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage production, oil and gas, data centers, government and defense, energy, water infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing.

The company is also positioning the platform as a way to preserve institutional knowledge as experienced industrial workers retire. Data collected from machines and maintenance activity can provide future technicians with historical information about equipment performance and previous failures.

Tractian cited research estimating that unplanned downtime costs the world’s 500 largest industrial companies roughly 11% of annual revenue, or approximately $1.4 trillion annually. Aging industrial equipment and workforce shortages are adding to the challenge for operators.

The company is headquartered in Atlanta and also operates offices in Monterrey, São Paulo, and Poland. Tractian employs more than 700 people globally.

KEY QUOTES:

“I grew up watching my father work as a maintenance technician at a paper mill, and I saw how backwards the tools were for the people keeping those machines alive. That sparked my passion to transform how mission-critical assets are maintained in every industry that relies on heavy machinery. This funding round will allow us to scale our platform even further, providing manufacturers, data center operators, defense companies, utilities and more with strategic insights to help optimize the health of their machines, close the alert-to-action gap and eliminate unplanned downtime and lost revenue.”

Igor Marinelli, CEO And Founder Of Tractian

“The AI boom is driving a massive build-out of physical infrastructure, and the companies building and running it can’t afford equipment failures. Tractian is meeting the moment, winning big industrial customers and building a Physical AI platform that gets sharper with every machine it monitors. When we led Tractian’s Series C, we believed that combining hardware, data, and AI would give the company a real edge. Since then, our thesis has only strengthened. We’re thrilled to once again lead Tractian’s latest round and continue our partnership with Igor and his team.”
