Trane Technologies announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Stellar Energy’s Digital business from Stellar Energy International, marking a significant expansion of its capabilities in data center thermal management.
The deal brings one of the sector’s leading turnkey liquid-to-chip cooling providers under the Trane Technologies umbrella as demand for scalable and energy-efficient data center infrastructure continues to accelerate globally.
Stellar Energy, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, designs and builds modular cooling plants, central utility plants, and coolant distribution units tailored for liquid-cooled data centers and other complex enterprise environments. The business has become known for its co-engineered modular systems that help operators deploy equipment more quickly, reduce supply chain friction, and scale as compute requirements rise. The acquisition includes the company’s existing Digital operations, two assembly facilities in Jacksonville, and approximately 700 employees.
Following the transaction’s close, Stellar Energy’s Digital business will operate within Trane Technologies’ Commercial HVAC segment in the Americas. The company will maintain its brand, continue selling directly to customers through its OEM-agnostic model, and preserve existing customer relationships. Trane Technologies plans to leverage Stellar Energy’s modular design, engineering strength, and thermal management expertise not only for data centers but also for broader commercial applications.
The acquisition aligns with Trane Technologies’ long-term strategy of adding targeted high-growth businesses and scaling them across its global commercial infrastructure. Company leaders highlighted the growing need for agile, sustainable cooling solutions amid accelerating data center demand. Trane Technologies expects that integrating Stellar Energy’s capabilities will strengthen its leadership position in the thermal management market and expand innovation opportunities across multiple verticals.
The deal is expected to close in early 2026.
