TransMedics Announces Strategic Investment In PAD Aviation To Build European Transplant Logistics Network

By Amit Chowdhry ● Yesterday at 11:19 PM

TransMedics Group, a medical technology company transforming organ transplant therapy, has entered into a definitive agreement to invest in PAD Aviation, a premier Germany-based private aviation operator, to lay the foundation for a dedicated organ transplantation air logistics network across Europe.

The proposed strategic investment is intended to support TransMedics’ efforts to replicate its successful U.S. National OCS Program logistics model in Europe, expanding access to donor organs and increasing transplant volumes for patients across the European Union. The company is already actively building its presence in Italy. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to regulatory conditions and is expected to close later in 2026.

PAD Aviation operates from a 24/7 hub in Paderborn, Germany, with a modern fleet of nine Embraer Phenom 300 aircraft and more than 40 type-rated pilots, holding a valid EASA Air Operator Certificate. Its central location allows rapid reach to destinations across Europe, making it well-suited for time-critical organ transport missions.

KEY QUOTES:

Building a dedicated transplant air logistics network in Europe is a necessary first step to supporting our European NOP strategy to bring the full benefits of our OCS technology and integrated logistics model to European patients in need of transplantation. We are already actively building our presence in Italy and our sights are set on expanding access to donor organs and increasing transplant volumes for patients across Europe over time.
