Traxys Group Acquires Swedish Industrial Materials Company Carbomax

Traxys Group has completed its acquisition of Carbomax AB by purchasing 100% of Comax2 AB, marking a strategic expansion of its presence in the Scandinavian market and strengthening its position in sustainable steel production.

The transaction, which received all required Swedish regulatory approvals, including foreign direct investment and antitrust clearances, makes Carbomax a wholly owned subsidiary of Traxys. The deal enhances Traxys’ capabilities across sourcing, logistics, and supply chain management while integrating Carbomax’s advanced Nordic processing operations and established regional customer base.

Carbomax specializes in ferroalloys, carbon products, and briquettes used in steelmaking and foundry applications. Its recycling-based briquetting technology, which converts industrial waste and by-products into reusable raw materials, aligns with Traxys’ broader focus on energy transition and sustainable resource supply chains.

The combination is expected to generate commercial and operational synergies, including expanded cross-selling opportunities, improved logistics efficiency, and increased availability of low-carbon raw materials. The addition of Carbomax’s processing hub in Sweden further strengthens Traxys’ infrastructure to support diversified and secure supply chains.

Earlier in the year, Traxys was selected as one of three global trading houses to procure critical minerals for the U.S. government’s “Project Vault,” a $12 billion strategic reserve initiative. The Carbomax acquisition supports this mandate by enhancing Traxys’ ability to deliver reliable and sustainable raw material flows globally.

Support: Legal advisors to Traxys included Hogan Lovells and Cederquist, while PwC Sweden served as financial advisor. The sellers were represented by Morris Law.
