Trelar Logistics, an Austin, Texas-based logistics platform, has raised a seed investment of $2.1 million led by Foundamental Capital. Trelar recently rebranded from the name FlexFleet. With this funding round, Trelar is going to accelerate product development, expand strategic partnerships, bolster marketing, and expand its team in Austin.

The global construction industry is a $10 trillion market. And it is highly fragmented and inefficient with a set of challenges that touches every market participant. Trelar’s platform increases capital performance, operating efficiencies, and visibility to improve profitability across the value chain.

“Most of the construction marketplace still relies on old technologies and inefficient workflows, while being hyper-local, highly fragmented, opaque, and tightly interdependent,” said Trelar CEO Gary Clarke — who is also the former Hy9 CEO. “Trelar’s vision is to advance its platform, applications, and tools to fundamentally transform a global industry that accounts for over 10% of the global GDP, The industry is ripe for a marketplace platform that increases asset utilization and drives job site productivity. Our platform integrates suppliers, contractors, supply chain logistics and services like finance and insurance to revolutionize the way construction moves.”

Trelar also announced the appointment of two senior executives including Ammad Jilani as chief technology officer and Laith Dahiyat as chief product officer. Jilian has more than 20 years of technical leadership and development experience. And Dahiyat has more than 21 years of product management and global software development experience.

“Gary’s record of leading technology companies through high-growth phases provide the pillars of the company through a unique market strategy, his vision and proven abilities to execute is what captured our attention,” added Foundamental Ventures managing partner Patric Hellermann.
