TRG, a portfolio company of Gemspring Capital, has acquired Barcode Supply, a provider of barcode, radio-frequency identification, labeling and data capture solutions. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands TRG’s endpoint lifecycle management platform by adding complementary hardware, consumables, software and technical services capabilities. It also strengthens the company’s presence in the southeastern United States.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Greensboro, Georgia, Barcode Supply helps organizations source, configure, deploy and support barcode and labeling systems used in mission-critical operations.

The company serves customers across manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, healthcare, food and beverage, transportation and logistics and the public sector.

Barcode Supply’s product portfolio includes barcode scanners, printers, labels, ribbons, RFID equipment and other data capture technologies. It also offers asset-tracking software designed to help customers monitor inventory, equipment, and other operational resources.

The company supports its technology offering with configuration, integration, repair and technical support services.

These capabilities help organizations improve the accuracy of inventory and operational data, increase product traceability and reduce errors associated with manual recordkeeping.

Barcode systems are commonly used to identify products, track shipments, manage warehouse inventory and record the movement of materials through manufacturing and distribution environments.

RFID technology can provide similar tracking capabilities while allowing information to be captured wirelessly without requiring a direct line of sight between a reader and an individual tag.

Labeling systems are also essential in industries where products and materials must be accurately identified throughout production, storage, transportation and delivery.

In healthcare environments, barcode and RFID technologies can support the tracking of medications, medical supplies, equipment and patient information.

Food and beverage companies use these systems to monitor production batches, expiration dates, inventory and product movement through the supply chain.

Transportation and logistics providers rely on barcode and data capture technology to track packages, pallets and other assets as they move among warehouses, vehicles and customer locations.

Barcode Supply combines these products and services through a single provider, enabling customers to purchase equipment, software, consumables and ongoing technical support without coordinating with multiple vendors.

TRG believes the acquisition will strengthen its ability to support customers throughout the complete lifecycle of enterprise devices and endpoints.

The company’s services begin with equipment sourcing and configuration and extend through deployment, logistics, repair, maintenance, asset management, mobility services, cybersecurity and the eventual replacement or retirement of devices.

Adding Barcode Supply gives TRG additional expertise in specialized data capture and labeling equipment that operates at the edge of enterprise technology environments.

These endpoints often play a critical role in collecting information from physical operations and connecting it with inventory, warehouse, manufacturing and business management systems.

TRG plans to integrate Barcode Supply’s capabilities with its existing managed services platform while preserving the company’s technical expertise and customer-focused operating model.

Barcode Supply CEO Jason Littleton and the company’s existing team will continue serving customers as part of TRG.

The combination will provide Barcode Supply with access to TRG’s broader resources, geographic reach and endpoint lifecycle services.

Existing Barcode Supply customers will continue working with the company’s team while gaining access to additional device management, repair, logistics, asset management and cybersecurity capabilities.

TRG is headquartered in Cleveland and operates facilities across North America, Europe and Latin America.

The company helps businesses manage and secure enterprise endpoints throughout their useful lives. These devices can include mobile computers, tablets, scanners, printers and other technologies used by employees in offices, warehouses, stores, factories and field environments.

Managing these devices can involve procurement, configuration, software installation, shipping, maintenance, security monitoring and replacement.

TRG provides these services through a centralized platform intended to reduce operational complexity and improve device availability.

The acquisition reflects TRG’s strategy of expanding its capabilities through companies that offer complementary technologies, technical expertise and established customer relationships.

Barcode Supply’s location in Georgia also gives TRG a stronger operating presence in the Southeast, creating opportunities to serve additional regional customers and provide more localized support.

Gemspring Capital is supporting TRG’s expansion strategy. The private equity firm manages approximately $5.1 billion in capital and invests in middle-market companies across several industries.

Its focus areas include aerospace and defense, business services, consumer services, financial and insurance services, healthcare, industrial businesses, software and technology-enabled services.

Gemspring typically partners with management teams to support revenue growth, operational improvements and the development of sustainable competitive advantages.
