Tri Delta announced that it has raised $25 million toward its latest commitment to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, marking another milestone in the organizations’ 27-year partnership.
The achievement represents progress toward Tri Delta’s current pledge to contribute $100 million to St. Jude over a 14-year period through 2038, which will coincide with the sorority’s 150th anniversary. Since the partnership began in 1999, Tri Delta members have raised a total of $185 million for St. Jude.
The milestone was announced during Tri Delta’s annual celebration in Memphis, Tennessee, where approximately 400 members from more than 130 chapters across the United States and Canada gathered to recognize the partnership’s impact. The announcement was made by ALSAC President and Chief Executive Officer Ike Anand.
Tri Delta members have raised funds through chapter-led campaigns and signature initiatives including Delta House of Pancakes events, the Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign, and other campus and community programs. The organizations noted that Tri Delta Place, a short-term housing facility for St. Jude patients and their families, was named in recognition of the partnership.
St. Jude said support from organizations such as Tri Delta helps ensure that families do not receive bills for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus on caring for their children.
Founded in 1888, Tri Delta has welcomed more than 340,000 members and currently includes nearly 250,000 members across 138 colleges and universities and 214 alumnae chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, founded in 1962, focuses on the treatment and research of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The institution has helped increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate in the United States from approximately 20% to more than 80%.
