Triangle Health, an AI-powered health navigation platform, has raised $4 million in pre-seed funding following a deeply personal origin story involving cofounder Arun Verma, who was diagnosed with brain cancer after undergoing a full-body MRI scan.
Verma, a tech veteran with experience at Shopify and Atoms, discovered he had a Grade 2 glioma during a visit to an early-detection imaging service. Following the diagnosis, he spent a year researching his condition using emerging AI tools and medical literature, ultimately identifying experimental therapies that were approved by his oncologist and contributed to his recovery.
That experience led to the creation of Triangle Health, a platform designed to help patients navigate complex medical conditions by combining artificial intelligence with physician oversight. The platform aggregates a patient’s complete medical history, surfaces relevant treatments including newly approved drugs and clinical trials, and enables collaboration with licensed doctors who review AI-generated insights.
Triangle’s model centers on a “doctor-in-the-loop” approach, ensuring that AI-driven recommendations are validated by medical professionals before patients act on them. The platform also allows family members to participate in care decisions and integrates with advanced AI systems to enhance research capabilities. It is built to be private, secure, and compliant with healthcare data regulations.
To build the company, Verma partnered with CEO Jonathan Grubb, previously of Bird and OpenTable, and CTO Justin Balthrop, a co-founder of Bird. The company also brought on Dr. Santosh Kesari, a leading neuro-oncologist and founder of Asthra Health, as a founding medical advisor.
The $4 million funding round includes backing from investors such as Kevin Mahaffey of Signal Noise Ratio, Hannah Grey, Antler Criticality Fund with the State of New Mexico, John Hering of Vy Capital and x.ai, Marty Tenenbaum, and Kestrin Pantera.
Triangle Health aims to address a key challenge in modern healthcare, the fragmentation of patient data and the difficulty individuals face in accessing and understanding the latest medical research. By partnering with Particle Health, the platform enables users to retrieve their full medical records with a single click, giving both AI systems and physicians a comprehensive view of patient history.
The company positions itself at the intersection of AI and healthcare, with a focus on empowering patients to make informed decisions while maintaining clinical oversight. Its broader vision is to transform AI tools into actionable health agents that operate with full patient context and professional guidance.
KEY QUOTES:
“After my diagnosis, I spent a year becoming an expert in my own disease. I used ChatGPT, which was new at the time, to research my condition and scour the medical literature for the best treatment options. I eventually landed on two experimental therapies and brought them to my oncologist. He agreed, we started treatment, and I’m healthy today. That research may have saved my life, but most people don’t have the time, background, or resources to do what I did.”
Arun Verma, Co-Founder And COO Of Triangle Health
“Patients today are already using tools like ChatGPT to research their health, but for complex and overlapping conditions, you need a purpose-built AI with a human expert in the loop. We created a platform for that job: your full medical history in context, the entire body of medical literature at hand, and a doctor who partners with you to act on what you find.”
Jonathan Grubb, CEO Of Triangle Health
“We’re entering an era of agentic AI, where systems can act on your behalf. But their power depends on the context they have. We built Triangle so that patients own their health data and can connect it to the best AI systems as they emerge. That’s what turns a chatbot into a true health agent.”
Justin Balthrop, CTO Of Triangle Health
“The future of healthcare depends on democratizing access to health data. That’s why we’re so excited to collaborate with Triangle to help patients and doctors partner around a clear picture of the patient’s health history. When patients and care teams are empowered with complete, AI-ready health data, better health outcomes follow.”
Jason Prestinario, CEO Of Particle Health
“Triangle bridges the gap between what’s published in the medical literature and what patients actually know is available to them. It’s the kind of tool I want my patients to have.”
Dr. Santosh Kesari, Founding Medical Advisor At Triangle Health
“Going through cancer changed how I think about time. We all have a limited window to leave a positive mark. AI is the breakthrough technology of our era, and we can use it to give millions of people longer, healthier lives. That’s what I want to do with the extra time modern medicine has given me.”
