TriNet Group announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Cocoon, a platform specializing in compliance-driven leave-of-absence solutions for employers and employees.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen TriNet’s leave management offering by integrating Cocoon’s technology into its broader HR platform. Together, this solution offers a more seamless, end-to-end experience for managing employee leave, with stronger compliance, greater automation, and a better user experience.
Cocoon’s platform introduces automated workflows and data-driven insights that support AI-enabled features, helping organizations ensure compliance with complex leave regulations while improving governance and decision-making. The system also includes real-time leave tracking, integrated claims processing with state and disability carriers, and automated payroll calculations.
For TriNet’s small- and medium-sized business clients, the acquisition is expected to enhance employee benefits offerings, simplify leave administration, and enable employers to better support employee well-being during critical life events. Cocoon’s existing customers will gain access to TriNet’s broader HR infrastructure and service capabilities.
Upon closing, Cocoon will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of TriNet. The transaction is expected to close within the month, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the deal is not expected to materially impact TriNet’s 2026 financial guidance.
The move reflects TriNet’s broader strategy to expand its technology-enabled HR solutions and deliver more comprehensive, compliance-focused services to SMB clients navigating increasingly complex workforce requirements.
