Troutman Pepper Locke has added Sean Higgins as a partner in its Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group in Boston, expanding the firm’s capabilities across commercial mortgage-backed securities special servicing, consumer financial services litigation, and broader commercial matters.
Higgins joins Troutman Pepper Locke from K&L Gates, where his practice focused on complex commercial disputes. He has represented national banks, private lenders, mortgage loan servicers, automotive finance companies, developers, real estate holding companies, and individual property owners.
His practice includes consumer class actions, individual plaintiff litigation, and appeals in federal and state courts across the U.S. Higgins also serves as foreclosure and workout counsel for lending-side clients.
He has significant experience representing lenders, CMBS loan servicers, and special servicers in portfolio- and loan-level default management and litigation, including defending lender liability claims.
The addition expands Troutman Pepper Locke’s restructuring team following the arrivals of Rakhee Patel, Chris Fernandez, Michael Cecka, David Fialkow, and Melissa Kato.
Higgins also serves as an active volunteer and board member of Hill House, a Boston community organization providing social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs for residents of the city’s downtown neighborhoods.
Troutman Pepper Locke’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring group advises clients facing distressed situations, insolvency issues, workouts, and other matters involving recovery and value preservation.
