Truelink Capital has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Johnson Controls’ global intrusion products business, creating an independent security technology company focused on intrusion detection and alarm communication products.
Following the transaction, the business will operate as a standalone company backed by Truelink, which plans to invest in product development, engineering, brand expansion, and growth across existing and new markets.
The business designs and manufactures intrusion detection and alarm communication products, including panels, sensors, detectors, and related technology sold primarily through security dealers.
Its portfolio includes established security brands such as DSC, Qolsys, PowerG, Visonic, Bentel, and Sur-Gard.
The business serves dealers, integrators, distributors, and service providers across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
Its roots date back to 1973. The platform was expanded through Tyco’s acquisitions of DSC and Visonic before becoming part of Johnson Controls through its 2016 merger with Tyco.
Truelink said operating independently will give the business dedicated leadership, faster decision-making, and a capital structure designed specifically to support growth.
The private equity firm plans significant investment in next-generation intrusion panels, sensors, communicators, and interactive platforms. It also intends to expand engineering capacity and increase investment in brand and channel programs.
Truelink sees additional opportunities to enter adjacent product categories and expand internationally, both organically and through strategic add-on acquisitions.
The transaction represents the fourth platform investment for Truelink Capital Fund II.
It also builds on Truelink’s previous experience acquiring businesses from Johnson Controls. In 2024, the firm acquired Air Distribution Technologies in another corporate carve-out transaction.
Truelink Capital manages more than $4.3 billion in assets and focuses on investments in industrial and business services companies.
The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
