Truespeed And Freedom Fibre Complete Strategic Merger To Create Scaled Full Fibre Platform Across The UK

By Amit Chowdhry • Today at 2:18 PM

Truespeed and Freedom Fibre have completed their merger following regulatory approval, creating the Freedom Truespeed Group, a scaled, capital-efficient full fibre platform with an expanded regional footprint across the United Kingdom. The combined business serves more than 412,000 premises ready for service and around 70,000 customers across the North West, West Midlands, South West, and East of England.

The merger brings together Freedom Fibre’s wholesale, open-access network with Truespeed’s established retail capability, positioning the group to support continued growth across both wholesale and consumer markets. The combined network benefits from strong regional density and limited overlap, enabling greater operational efficiency and more effective capital deployment. The business is described as virtually unlevered, providing a strong financial foundation for future investment and long-term growth.

Following completion, the combined business will operate as the Freedom Truespeed Group with no immediate change to how services are delivered. Freedom Fibre will continue as the group’s wholesale network working with its established partner ecosystem, including TalkTalk and Zen Internet, while Truespeed and LilaConnect remain customer-facing brands. Integration of systems, processes, and teams will be conducted in a phased and considered way. Truespeed was founded in 2014 and has been backed by Aviva Investors since 2017.
